Leading for Growth

The latest Markit indicators for manufacturing and construction may have indicated a slight slowdown in the strong growth figures shown over the previous few months but the latest services figures indicate that growth in that sector shows no signs of abating.

Led by computing and IT, financial services, transport and communications the services sector figures rose from 54.9 in October to 55.9 in November.

With anything over 50 indicating a period of growth, the combined figure for the sectors held steady at 55.7, pointing towards growth of 0.6% in the fourth quarter of 2015, with an overall annual figure of 2.4%. Commenting on the figures Cris Williamson the chief economist of Markit said the figures suggest that “the UK continues to enjoy the ‘Goldilocks’ scenario of solid economic growth and low inflation.

However, this is no time for complacency. Leading for growth is as much about inspiring and enabling as it is about modelling the way with a strong business strategy. Nurturing leadership potential throughout the organisation will help to ensure that the business is not just led from the top, but that people at every level are actively looking to promote ongoing success.
